Mr.Duck

I bought Mr.Duck in Huancayo, in the mountains of Peru. Coming november my boyfriend Julian and I are moving to Melbourne, Australia and for a second there was a doubt if I was allowed to bring the duck to Australia, as Mr. Duck is made from a pumpkin....Lucky enough... as long as we took out the seeds there should be no problem at customs. All our belongings are on the boat now, and I am hoping Mr.Duck willmake it through customs!!

Old Buddhist Temple Statues, Galle, Sri Lanka

In Galle, Sri Lanka, is a store which sells vintage
Buddhist Temple Statues,
made of wood, mostly with bladdering paint.
We went to this store two times in the 5 weeks
we where in Sri Lanka,
and this statue got sold for 6000 Dollars
by an American Man
who would ship it to his home in America.

Love the colors & the patterns

Huyancayo Hill Station, Peru, Knitted Cardigans

This is still one of my favourite photo's,
she was such a charming and sweet lady,
she felt totally confident posing

Everywhere in Peru you see lady's with cardigans made
from soft Alpaca, often with a matching sweater below.
This sales lady holds the whipping cords
for the whipping ceremony

Such a lovely friendly lady
Sri Lankan streetstyle
Colors & materials
Winter fleece with bright coloured paisley,
mind the fluorescent orange hair elastic
Vintage 70's glasses & tulband
I like this silhouette,
traditional skirts combined with a hoody
Vintage scarves & patterns
Again that silhouette, skirt, shirt & loose beeny
I love the fabric & color combination,
her smile and that mint colored towel

Huancayo, Peruvian whipping ceremony

We celebrated New Years Eve in Huancayo, Peru.
The founder of Incas del Peru, Lucho Hurtado, invited us to
celebrate New Years Eve with him and his staff in his restaurant.
We burned dolls which were filled with firework and notes about what we wished to leave behind
in the old year and we ate one grape per wish for the new year.

The next day he took us to a hill station where
every New years day there used to be a real whipping ceremony,
had you done something "wrong" like stealing or cheating.
You would get judged and whipped in front of your friends, family and neighbours.
In these photos you can see the traditional costume ceremony which is left of the whipping ceremony.
It was beautiful, the colors, the heavy music and all the dancing.
